Set the ends of the rim joists against the house and screw the l brackets into the sheathing.

The easiest way to do this is to remove the existing house rim joist and soffit and any insulation inside the cavities.
The problem with attaching a deck to a cantilevered floor is that there is nothing below the cantilever overhang to keep the rim joist at the house from pulling loose.
If you don t want posts and a beam at the house side of the deck then you ll need to run the deck joists into the house floor joist system so the ends rest on top of a bearing wall or mudsill inside.
