Slow Drip Watering Trees

Treegator original is a slow release watering bag that is perfect for newly planted or established trees from a minimum of 1 inch to a maximum of 8 inches in trunk diameter caliper with branches beginning at least 25 inches from the ground or higher.

Make a reservoir over the root ball for watering. Keep moving the hose from place to place until it has dribbled for an hour or even two hours for a large tree. A soaker hose such as the one in our snip n drip soaker system applies water slowly so it soaks in rather than running off. Mulching trees and shrubs maximizes water uptake.

Why water trees and shrubs with drip irrigation watering this way has three major advantages. Instead of using a hose or sprinkler try a drip irrigation system. If you provide trees with frequent shallow watering the tree develops shallow. It provides a slow measured flow of h2o straight to tree and shrub roots.

A single bag fits tree trunks from 1 inch to 3 inches in diameter. It may take several hours to properly water a single mature tree. Drip systems emit a slow and steady flow of water allowing for deep penetration of the soil and stronger tree roots. One option is to turn the hose to a slow dribble and place it on the ground near the trunk.
